Participation in the International Avian Congress on Mycoplasma (IOM2024)

July 7, 2024

Kazuhiro Matsuda, Director of our Mycoplasma Infection Research Center, participated in the 2024 Congress of the International Organization for Mycoplasmology (IOM2024) held in the Canary Islands, Spain from July 7th to 11th 2024.

At the conference, he presented a pre-approved abstract and participated in working groups in three departments, then exchanged useful information with many researchers of mycoplasma infections. We also exchanged various opinions with experts from the respiratory division of the US CDC, who were introduced to us by the IOM President. During our discussions with the experts from the US CDC, we came to the common understanding that mycoplasma infections are important infectious diseases, which we believe is a major achievement of participating in this conference.

We plan to continue our educational activities regarding the importance of mycoplasma infections, and we hope that this approach to the U.S. CDC and other organizations will be a breakthrough in deepening understanding of the importance of mycoplasma infections.
